“Ten Points for the More Experienced/Advanced Rider to Make the Most of Their Riding Lesson”

1. Preparation – Arrive in plenty of time to prepare yourself and horse and warm up

2. Have the issue/s that you wish addressed ready

3.Engage in discussion for some indication of the riders present understanding and knowledge and to indicate where they are coming from

4. Proper practice can only come from the theory needed for understanding so best to check this first.

5. Be able to demonstrate walk/trot/canter [where it all starts and ends] on both reins

6. Work up to the movement/s situation/s that have become the issue

7. Be prepared to go with changes to normal routine

8. Be prepared to interact with trainer demonstrating on another horse or ride theirs

9. Engage in feedback throughout and at end of session.

10. Remember to allow enough time for enough cool down at end of session
