“Ten Strategies For Training Successfully”

PLAN YOUR RIDE
1)  What are you trying to achieve?
– Given the horse’s conformation & things yet to be achieved

2) What exercise/s?
– eg 2 jumps on a circle in canter 4 transitions on a circle

3) Only execute 2/3 times

RIDE THE LINE
4) Plan exactly where, before you start
– Keep the horse balanced

REWARD THE HORSE
5) Stop the exercise
– Allow a stretch/ prove one rein Say something Scratch/pat

READ THE HORSE 
6) Attitude: relaxed, licking lips? Or resistant?

ASSESS FEEDBACK
7) Anything becoming a problem?

8) Check Training Scale:
– Rhythm/Contact/Suppleness/Impulsion/Straightness/Collection

9) Change your plan?

10) Still haven’t solved it, ask your Coach!
