“Ten Life Lessons Learned from Horses”
1. Horses taught me to learn, how I had been a failure at school but learned how to learn and succeed when the school was about horses. Learning takes some self discipline and routines that I didn`t have at the time. From working with horses I had to be disciplined and have routines. If not I would not have been able to care for them and get them tamed.
2. Put your mind to it. When going to school and learn was my idea it was totally different from when I went to school because that’s what every body else did. When I put my mind to it I got much better results. Just as when your idea becomes the horses idea, good posture and hindleg engagement comes from the horse self.
3. Confidence is key, if you believe in yourself anything is possible. Start with something you can manage, that is a bit outside your comfort zone. Horses need confidence too, to build confidence is not the same as controlling the horse.
4. Horses don’t judge you, they don`t care wherever you are a princess or homeless
5. Be present in the moment, horses live in the moment
6. Be true to yourself and your feeling, horses don`t like mixed signals and will discover if humans hide their emotions
7. Allow horses, kids and yourself to protest, to speak their mind don`t hold emotions on the inside
8. Good things take time and creativity. I know use a horse ball, connection and fun tasks instead side reins and reins in general to collect horses.
9. Horses are a carrier of cultural heritage and history, you can experience the past from visiting different horse cultures.
10. Horse knowledge is international, although the methods may differ, the horse is the same. Just as with humans or skin color or orientation, does not make us more or less human.
