When people salute and female riders take their eyes off the judge and male riders do not, is this the rule or is this etiquette?   Has this ever been challenged as against ‘equal opportunity’ or discrimination?

 

1 – What is ‘Collection’?
– Positive tension

 

2 – Where is ‘Collection’ in the Scale of Training?

 

3 – Can the horse collect in walk, trot and canter?  Is there a collected walk, collected trot and collected canter?
– Different to other working trot and canter or med walk?

 

4 – What should we be able to see in the collected horse?
– Hindquarters?
– Back?
– Head and neck?
– or is the overall picture?

 

5 – What should the rider feel when a horse is truly collected?
– More energy in the horse
– Sitting deep into the horse
– more in front – horse is growing in the front – long moment of suspension

 

6 – What are the prerequisites before the rider should be asking for collection?
– Supple, balance, ride and horse in front of the driving aids

 

7 – What are the prerequisites before the horse is ready to start working towards collection?

 

 

8 – Are there specific exercises to improve the athletic ability in the horse to produce collection?

 

 

9 – What happens if we ask the horse for collection too soon?

 

 

10 – What else do we need to know about collection?
