- Leg Yielding
– Eventing tests leg yielding
– Walk and trot
– Relaxation
– Forward driving aids
– Sideways driving aids
– Judge see 4 legs straight – not bent flexion - Leg Yielding before shoulder in
– Part of lateral movements
– half pass
– travers/renvers
– Flexion and bend between neck and head
– whole body and neck - Shoulder in Bent away from direction
– prep in walk
– tests in trot
– key movements – Straightness, elasticity, obedience - Shoulder in (ridden correctly)
– 3 legs – don’t see inside hind
– same track as outside front
– Inside hind carries more weight
– Very good gymnastic exercise
– Rider must be sensitive to give correct aids - Shoulder in – key movement to straighten
- What skills the rider has to have before he/she is able to train these kind of movements
– Both seat bones, relaxed and in the saddle
– Feel the reins, tempo, working trot and canter, walk
– Move energy in paces (towards collection)
– Move weight to inside seat bone
– Moves body very slightly to the right
– Outside leg 5cm more backwards - How we correct the mistakes?
– Position, position, position
– Rider to use forward, driving aids and sideways driving aids
– Impulsion required before you short
– Impulsion is often lost in lateral work
– Small problem – Fix within the movement itself
– Major Problem – Fix is another movement – back to basics
