About Elaine
– Elaine did not come from a horsey background but lived in rural area of UK and around 10 years old she would cycle to local riding club and muck and tack up ponies in exchange for riding. Elaine spent summers Pony Trekking in Brecon Beacons in Wales and after a break for University returned to riding and some competition (mainly dressage, Le Trec and some Show Jumping) but increasingly aware that the British Horse Society traditional methods did not really suit her or the horses she was involved with.
Elaine sought out alternative/natural horsemanship trainers to try and develop a different form of communication and a better relationship with these horses and did not actually own a horse until she was 35!
Having done training with a variety of people including Parelli, Monty Roberts/Kelly Marx, Richard Maxwell, Gary Witheford, Ken Faulkner (and most recently James French) I eventually found Franklin Levinson and EFL (Equine Facilitated Learning). This modality allowed me to combine my horse passion with a desire to give other people (especially children and those with disabilities) access to an activity that all (horse, Elaine and participant) beneficial, empowering and FUN!
The horses did not have to be ridden so older, non-competitive horses found a new career, participants did not have to have all the “correct” riding gear and she could show them how much fun it was just to be around horses.
