  • Rushing before the jump

 

  • Rushing away after jump

 

  • Rushing out right/left

 

  • Rushing caused by
    – Confusion, fear, bad communication, habit, soundness
    – 60′ (5 strides) in canter – side, diagonal, side, diagonal
    – Gymnastics

 

  • Running away caused by
    – Unsettled on landing, confusion and fear, insecure rider position, noisy poles
    – Pole two strides way (33ft) after jump
    – Trot and halt after jump

 

  • Running out  caused by 
    – Bad communication, bad teaching
    – Aim for centre (flatwork to correct)
    – Unsoundness
    – Past Performance/habit
    – Riders slack about track
    – Experience riders to correct habit
    – Instructors to teach riding the centre
