Winning Doesn’t Have To Be About Trophies and Ribbons, It Can Be About A Harmonious Trail Ride With Your Horse
About Joanne
– Joanne grew up with a passion for horses. She is an award winning author, experienced horse breeder, equestrian competitor and trainer, Australian representative athlete, and businesswoman.
Joanne’s earliest ambition in life was to be a bareback rider in a circus. After working her way through the Pony Club ranks, Joanne earned the qualification of Pony Club instructor at the age of 16. She went on to compete with success in eventing (her favourite), dressage, hacking and led classes, as well as starting her own and other people’s horses under saddle.
A versatile horsewoman, Joanne completed a farriery course at the then Gatton Agricultural College, rode with and learned leather work from the legendary RM Williams and at one time held an Australian Owner Trainer Permit to train and race Thoroughbreds.
In 1984, Joanne established the Highborn Warmblood Stud, where she bred and stood the Licensed Stallion Highborn Powerlifter. The horses Joanne produced during the following 16 years went on to win both under saddle and in breed classes, including Royal Show Championships.
An enthusiastic promoter of the Warmblood breed, with a great eye for a horse, Joanne was past Federal President, Federal Registrar and Federal Publicity Officer of the Australian Warmblood Horse Association (AWHA) Ltd and continues to support the AWHA as a Classifier, Judge and National Assessment Tour representative. In recognition of her outstanding contribution, Joanne was granted Honorary Life membership in 2015.
Joanne has written articles for Equestrian Country, Hoofbeats, Horsezone, Horses & People, The Horse Magazine, Australian Horse and Rider Yearbook, and Hoofs & Horns.
Her first book, “Winning Horsemanship – A Judge’s Secrets and Tips for Your Success”, was an award winner in the Sport – Non-Fiction category from Readers Favourite in its 2017 international book award contest.

what you do
The Horse is here
to enable you to learn
how to be a better You
