“Ten Popular Saddle Pads”

There are ten different types you can question him on (pros and cons) as well as discussing the basic premise behind saddle pads in general.

 

The Ten different types are: (2 saddle cloths on a clipped horse

 

1) Riser Pads
– Push saddle back
– Twist or break the tree

 

2) Keyhole Pads
– No spinal Clearance
– Twist or break the tree

 

3) Leather Pads
– High ingredient of grease/vegetable oil
– Chamious

 

4) Navajo Pads
– Western saddles only

 

5) Sheepskin Pads
– Second best pad in the world (first deer skin)
– Good circulation
– Hair against hair

 

6) Filler/Shim Pads
– Filler can move in pad
– Filler should be glued/velcro to the saddle

 

7) Gel Pads
– Works well in cotton saddle pad left and right side separate
– In one pad puts a massive strain on spine
– No thicker than quarter a inch

 

8) Memory Foam Pads
– Good pad if left and right  side separate
– In one pad puts too much pressure on spine

 

9) Felt Pads
– Decrease tree width
– less than half an inch
– Messes up fit of well fitting saddle
– Wool felt can help bad fitting saddle (must have wihitn release)

 

10) Thermoplastic Pads
