What Else Can You Do to Be Excellent with Horses?

The tradition of taking your horse to a competition is to show that you have or are the best.

Winners have to be the best trained, fastest, strongest, prettiest or best presented or the best rider.

About 150 years ago, Charles Kendall Adams wrote about enduring traits of successful people throughout history.

No one ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him, it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.

Think about it. Even if you ride your horse every day, have a lesson each week and go to a show most weekends…. if that is what everyone else is doing, then you simply aren’t doing enough.

It is the amount of excellence you are doing over and above what everyone else is doing that will make you a winner.

You may not need more time and money to achieve this…..

Don’t just get a lesson…. video the lesson and scrutinise it again and again to find ways to improve.

Don’t just ride a 20 metre circle… every circle you ride, keep improving to make it the best 20 metre circle you have ever ridden.

When you go to a show…… don’t just go to compete…. take note and learn the other competitors to find out what they do to consistently win.

Remember…. it is the amount of excellence you are doing over and above what everyone else is doing that will make you a winner.
